In this week’s Amazon’s “Bargains of the Week” there were a few tantalisingly cheap TV shows, including the original Battlestar Galactica on DVD (opens in new tab) for £6.75 and season one of Twin Peaks , also on DVD (opens in new tab) and selling for just £5.75 .

If cancelled one-season wonders are your cup of tea then the complete boxed set of the epically convoluted show The Event was on DVD (opens in new tab) for £6.50.

Jack and Gwen were kicking ass and kissing butt in Torchwood: Miracle Day , which was on DVD (opens in new tab) for £10.25 , we also found the slightly better, and far creepier, Children Of Earth on DVD (opens in new tab) for just £5.89 .

Fans of Chuck Bartowski and the Nerd Herd can pick up Chuck season one (opens in new tab) for £5.75 and season two (opens in new tab) for £7.54 . Although Zavvi has a season one to four box-set on DVD (opens in new tab) for £24.95 which probably works out cheaper if you want them all. Season five is available to pre-order (opens in new tab) for £28 and is out in October.

Also from Zavvi; fans of classic horror can pick up the Hammer House Of Horror TV box-set, containing all 13 episodes of the show on DVD (opens in new tab) for £9.95 .

On the movie front we found David Cronenberg’s adaptation of the Stephen King story The Dead Zone on DVD (opens in new tab) for £5.27 .

The Zavvi and HMV websites both have offers on this week. Zavvi is running a three DVDs for £10 (opens in new tab) offer, where we spotted Silent Running, Slither and Millennium , but there’s plenty more to choose from. And HMV currently has a five Blu-rays for £30 deal including Moon, Minority Report and Time Bandits amongst others. With over eight hundred titles in the offer, there’s bound to be something for everyone. Check it out.

Fans of Futurama can get this “Bender Head” box-set containing seasons one to four of the show and all the films in a big robot head-shaped set (opens in new tab) for £49.95 . A shiny metal butt is not included.

A quick pop to the shops revealed Morrison’s had Cabin In The Woods for £11 , Despicable Me on Blu-ray for £6 , the [REC] trilogy on DVD for £13.99 , Big Bang Theory season one to five on DVD for £40 and Cloverfield on DVD for £3 . Fans of sword and sandal fantasy can pick up Troy, 300, Prince of Persia and both the 2010 remake of Clash Of The Titans and the classic original all for £5 each.

Asda had quite a selection of cheap DVDs this week. We spotted Gremlins for £4 , Vanishing On 7th Street and X-Men: First Class for £5 each, Legend for £3 and the Fright Night remake for £5 . Fans of B movie type horror can pick up Dragon Wasps for £8 , Shark Night for £7 , Creature for £5 or Night Of The Living Dead Re-Animation again for £5 .

Asda also had both Hulk and The Incredible Hulk for £3 each on DVD and Real Steel for £5 .

From the forum this week Happy Hangman spotted both versions of The House On Haunted Hill, Ghost Ship, The Guru and Gremlins in his local Land of Pound. Wee Little Puppet Man saw Alien 3 and X-Men 3 going for a fiver each on Blu-ray in his local Morrison’s. And staying with Morrison’s, Midnighter spotted Batman Begins (single disc edition) and The Book Of Eli on DVD for just £2 each and series one of the Lego Star Wars planets sets down to £2.98 each in his local branch of the superstore. Thundergod found Batman: Under the Red Hood for £2.99 in That’s Entertainment.

On the random ideas this week we have a Doctor Who heat-reveal mug . For just £9.99 you can add hot water to this mug and see the amazing picture of the TARDIS turn into a slightly different picture of the TARDIS. Welcome to the 21st century folks!

Fans of classic Star Trek might be interested in these Spock and Kirk mugs. They’re in classic science and command colours and are available from Forbidden Planet via Play for £9.99 each.

Another TV show from the 1990s next. A box-set containing seasons one and two of the Jerry O’Connell John/Rhys-Davies starring dimension jumping show Sliders is available on DVD (opens in new tab) for £13.62 from Amazon.

Zavvi has the extended cut of Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation on Blu-ray (opens in new tab) for £8.95 . You can also pick the film up on DVD (opens in new tab) packaged with Tales Of The Black Freighter and Under The Hood , all for £5.95 .

While we’re with Zack Snyder films you can find his 2004 remake of Dawn Of The Dead on DVD (opens in new tab) for £3.95 or the slightly longer director’s s cut again on DVD (opens in new tab) for the same price.

Over on Play.com this week we spotted oddball superhero movie Super on Blu-ray for just £3.99 .

From the forum returning bargain hunter Silver Fox 67 told us that Sendit.com has a whole page of cheap Doctor Who DVDs , with prices starting as low as £5.49 for Pertwee era adventure ”Time Warrior” , £4.99 for Tom Baker’s ”Image Of The Fendahl” and just £1.99 for the ”Infinity Quest” animated adventure. There are plenty of bargains to be had. Check it out.

Mr Fox also told us that the Batman Begins/The Dark Knight Blu-ray/DVD/Digital set is available for £12 from Play and that Play also has the Lord Of The Rings Special Edition Blu-ray available for £38.99 .

In our weekly visit to Asda we spotted loads of cheap DVDs, including Ghost, Troll Hunter, The Road, Super 8, Hot Tub Time Machine and Green Lantern all for £5 each. We also saw season one of The Big Bang Theory for a fiver too. Other DVDs we spotted included Wall-E and Mars Needs Moms for £5 each, The Raven for £10 , season one of The Walking Dead for £12 and season six of Supernatural for £15 .

On the Blu-ray front Asda had Sin City for £5 and Drive Angry for £7 as well as a selection of sci-fi themed Blu-rays on sale for £7 each including Species, Alien, Aliens, The Fly, Predator, Legend and I Robot . Morrison’s and Tesco didn’t have anything new this week.

We have a Lego tastic random selection for you this week. It seems like all the good franchises are getting Lego deals these days. Our first find is the second series of the planet sets. The sets consist of a minifigures, a ship/vehicle model and a plastic planet which we reckon would make a great geeky Christmas bauble. This release consist of an X-Wing, pilot and Yavin (opens in new tab) set, a Cloud Car, Lobot and Bespin (opens in new tab) set and a Scout Walker, Scout Driver and Endor (opens in new tab) set. All for £9.99 . Asda has all three sets at the slightly cheaper £9.79 .

The first range of Lego Lord Of The Rings sets are available at the Lego website (opens in new tab) at prices from £11.99 to £99.99 . We recommend the ”Shelob Attacks” (opens in new tab) set, which is available for £19.99 , you get a teeny tiny Gollum and the Lego spider is just fantastic. You can find these sets a little cheaper if you search around, for example we found the Shelob set for 87p less here (opens in new tab) , however the Lego site (opens in new tab) has a really good points/special offer set up for people who sign up to the site and purchase their Lego there.

And finally on the Lego front, the Batman/Catwoman Lego set is on offer from Play for £8.99 .

Next up we have a couple of recent releases; the found-footage superpower adventure Chronicle (Extended Edition) was spotted on DVD (opens in new tab) for £7.99 and on Blu-ray (opens in new tab) for £11.99 .

If you fancy invisible aliens invading Russia, then how about Darkest Hour ? The all-singing, all-dancing Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy (opens in new tab) is available for £13.49 and alternatively the plain simple DVD (opens in new tab) (and digital) copy can be yours for £7.99 .

The Batman five-disc, five -lm, animated collection DVD (opens in new tab) we reported last month has dropped even further in price to just £10 . Not bad for five movies.

With the new Colin Farrell-starring Total Recall remake out today how about checking out the classic Arnie version. It’s out on a special edition Blu-ray/triple play (opens in new tab) set for £12.97 .

Over on Sendit this we week we found several cheap classic films on DVD. They had invading aliens in It Came From Outer Space for £2.99 . Faked Mars landings in Capricorn One for £8.99 . Cute and evil robots in Disney’s The Black Hole for £2.99 . One of the scariest robots ever put to film alongside a very young looking Harvey Keitel in Saturn 3 also for £2.99 . The 1955 Invasion of the Body-snatchers for £3.99 . And finally madcap British space fun with The First Men in the Moon again for £2.99 .

In our wander round the supermarkets we took in Asda and Morrison’s this week. In Asda we found DVDs including Contagion and Skyline for £5 each, God Of Vampires for £8 and Remains again for £8. Black Death, Wanted, Prince of Persia, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian were also all on DVD for £3 each. On the Blu-ray shelf we saw a Predators triple play set for £8 , 28 Days and Weeks Later also for £8 and Scream 4 for £7 .

Across the road in Morrison’s we found War Of The Worlds, Devil, Sunshine, Drag me to Hell, The Thing and the TMNT animated movie all for £3 each. Also in Morrison’s the Batman: The Brave & the Bold DVD volumes Midnighter told us he’d spotted a few weeks ago are still available for £3 .

Form the forum this week, Grumpy Old Git told us they found season one the of zany sci-fi show Warehouse 13 for just £8 at Asda and Raven informed us that series one of Space:1999 was available on Blu-ray (opens in new tab) for £25.97 which is cheaper than the same set is on DVD (opens in new tab) .

Our Ian Berriman struck TV gold this week with the discovery of a 2 for £12 Doctor Who offer from Play. The offer features seventeen classic Who titles including “Colony In Space”, “Robot”, “The Mind Robbers” and “Day Of The Daleks”.

And, as if cheap Who DVDs weren’t enough Ian also found this Doctor Who kids backpack for £2.49 and this Lego Star Wars X-Box 360 game for just £13.98 .

We’re a little thin on the ground for random ideas this week so we thought we’d bring you a whole load of mugs… Play have plenty of sci-fi themed mugs at low, low prices. We found this Batman versus Bane mug for £5.99 , a classic Bolland Dark Judges design for £7.99 , Judge Dredd himself on this
”Many faces of Dredd” design for £5 and Brains from Thunderbirds in mug form for £5.99 .

For fans of Doctor Who we found several Dalek designs including this ”You Will Obey” mug for £7.99 and this great ”To Victory!” mug for £5 . We also spotted this lovely Van Gogh exploding Tardis for just £6.99 .

First up we’ll remind you of a couple of general offers still running; Play has a 2 Blu-rays for £10 offer on, including such titles as Highlander, Flash Gordon and Splice . Play also has a 2 DVDs for £5 offer as well with titles including The Crow, Small Soldiers and Next . Zavvi has a Blu-ray offer on too; 3 Blu-rays for £18 (opens in new tab) , with a range of films and TV shows including Tremors, Being Human series one and the excellent Pontypool . Check ’em out; there’s bargains to be had.

Next we have a few suggestions from Amazon. Steven Spielberg’s classic UFO tale Close Encounters Of The Third Kind is available in a 30th anniversary Blu-ray for £10 . The film can also be yours on DVD (opens in new tab) for £3.99 . Duncan Jones’ brilliantly claustrophobic first film Moon is on Blu-ray (opens in new tab) for £7.49 . You can also pick the film up on DVD (opens in new tab) for just £4.35 .

With the new The Thing prequel ( reviewed here ) out on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday we thought we’d point you in the direction of the original ’50s film The Thing From Another World . This classic sci-fi movie can be your on DVD (opens in new tab) for £3.97 . The more recent, but still classic, ’80s John Carpenter version is available on DVD (opens in new tab) for £3.89 and on Blu-ray (opens in new tab) for £7.99 .

To the supermarkets next, and Asda had a few recent DVD releases going cheap; The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn, Contagion, Troll Hunter and Midnight In Paris were all a tenner each. We also saw Super 8 , parts one and two of the last Harry Potter film, Captain America, Thor and Cowboys and Aliens for £7 each. On the Blu-ray shelf we saw Psycho for £5 , The Adjustment Bureau, The Lost Boys and the individual Back to the Future movies for £10 each.

Asda still has its promotion on Disney DVDs and Blu-rays running. DVDs are 2 for £15 and Blu-rays are 2 for £20 , with films as Wall-E, The Incredibles and Monsters, Inc. as well as many other well known non-sci-fi titles available. Amazon are still running their slightly cheaper Disney offers as well; click here (opens in new tab) for the 2 Blu-rays for £16 page and here (opens in new tab) for the 2 DVDs for £13.99 page.

Morrison’s had a load of Reel Hero limited edition cover DVDs including Shaun Of The Dead, Hellboy 2, Kick-Ass, The Hulk and Serenity , all for £5 each. The Terminator, Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes, The Iron Giant, Stardust, The Goonies, Sunshine and Daredevil were all even cheaper at just £3 each. Morrison’s also had the Adventures Of Tintin animated boxed set, which features all 21 original animated adventures, for £10 if you’d prefer a more traditional animation style than the new film.

Lots of finds from our forumers this week, starting with Buffster , who found that WOW-HD (the site formally known as CD WOW) is selling DVDs on a 2 for £10 offer. With over 120 titles in the sale, including some TV boxed sets, it’s well worth checking out.

Jonemoongoose found Game Of Thrones in Blockbusters for £25 , but they didn’t say whether it was the DVD or the Blu-ray format.

Midnighter is back again this week with news that Captain America: The First Avenger, Cowboys & Aliens, Super 8 and Transformers: Dark Of The Moon were all being advertised as £5 each in Sainsbury’s. Sainsbury’s is also selling the new Tintin movie for a penny less than Asda at £9.99 and they’re saying they have a two-disc exclusive edition but we aren’t sure what makes it exclusive.

Midnighter had some toy news for us too; he spotted Character Builders Cyber Conversion Chamber for the unbelievably low price of £4.50 and the Junk TARDIS Play set for £10 in their local Tesco. Morrison’s also had the Dalek/Cyberman/Weeping Angel Army Building sets for £5 each and individual Micro-figures for £1 .

We had a big stack of suggestions from Radical Edward , he spotted this USS Enterprise pizza cutter (opens in new tab) over on Firebox. We’ve mentioned this item before on Bargains and while it’s a cool piece of tat, at £24.99 it isn’t exactly cheap. It’s far too pretty to actually use for pizza cutting, but we think it looks just lovely displayed on a shelf.

On the movie front Radical found an X-Files movie (opens in new tab) double bill on DVD for £4.49 , a Pitch Black, Doom, Riddick (opens in new tab) triple bill for £5.99 and this Day The Earth Stood Still/ Independence Day (opens in new tab) two-pack for £4.99 . Radical also shared news of some X-Men box sets. The Quadrilogy (opens in new tab) set, containing the three X-Men films and the Wolverine prequel, is available for £7.20 from Amazon and the ultimate X-Men collection , which has the same as the previous set but also includes the recent First Class prequel movie, can be yours from Play for £15 . Amazon has this set on Blu-ray (opens in new tab) for £24.99 .

From the land of TV, Radical sent us links for Fringe season three on Blu-ray for £17.99 , The Walking Dead season one on DVD for £10.49 and season one of Dark Angel , again on DVD (opens in new tab) , for £8.99 .

The ever reliable Silverfox67 is back this week with Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 on DVD (opens in new tab) for £4.95 from Zavvi.

Boo from the forum sent us a message saying she spotted Captain America: The First Avenger on DVD from Play for £6.99 .

And while we were at Play we spotted two cool Captain America tops; this hoodie for £17.99 (down from £39.99 ) and this T-shirt also for £17.99 (down from £24.99 )
