Game Of Thrones S6 goes “shocking moment to shocking moment”

The blood may only just have dried after the season five finale of Game Of Thrones (opens in new tab), but Emilia Clarke (who plays Daenerys) has been teasing what we can expect from the sixth run of the HBO smash, and has promised that things go from “shocking moment to shocking moment”.

When compared to the action-packed fourth season, the show’s last run was a (comparatively) sedate affair, with the first few episodes doing a lot of positioning work before the dramatic payload of the last few hours. However, Clarke has suggested that the pace will pick up dramatically next time out…

“It’s really exciting,” says Clarke to the LA Times (opens in new tab). “Next season, I’ve said this before, but there’s a lot of seasons where you need to kind of set the scene. And you have a couple of episodes where you’re like, ‘OK, feeding information, I get it. We’re finding out about this person. And we know about that person. And oh, there’s that person.'”

“But this season coming up, that we’re about to film, there’s none of that. It’s just go, go, go, go. Shocking moment to shocking moment. Epic moment to epic moment. It’s mental; it’s epic. And definitely Dany’s a part of it.”

It certainly feels as though the stage is set for the show to begin approaching its endgame, although there will hopefully still be plenty of political machinations to balance out the ice and fire action. We’re still keeping our fingers crossed for a Baelish / Varys reunion, when Game Of Thrones returns next spring.
