Sonic the Hedgehog 2 famously used an arcane (and basically fake) trick known as blast-processing to deliver hyperspeed jaunts through brightly-colored, sprawling levels. Now that contemporary hardware technology has almost caught up with the wizardry of 1990s software design, Sega’s finally able to deliver a comparable effect in Sonic 4: Episode 2. As you can see from this gameplay trailer, the results are satisfyingly kinetic.
If all of that was too much speed for you, you could always go back and peruse the sumptuous screenshots Sega used to tease this clip last week. (Or, um, hit the Pause button.) Anyways, look forward to seeing more of Sonic 4:2 before the game’s release in May.
