XCOM developer goes undercover as a store clerk to sell his game to the public. Hilarity ensues

It would appear that XCOM: Enemy Unknown is not an easy sell in today’s climate. Strategy games (even great ones) are rarely best-sellers on current-gen consoles… probably because they haven’t got the words ‘Call of Duty’ in the title. So it’s funny but also a little sad to watch XCOM: Enemy Unknown’s lead Designer, Jake Solomon, try to sell his new game to the public by posing as a store clerk in a Maryland game store. But mainly funny.

Our favourite bit? The part where he’s explaining about it affecting you ‘it’s this’ and then also ‘it’s this’, pointing to his heart with incredible deadpan sincerity. Classic. Although he’s not lying – everything he’s saying about the game is true, as backed up by our own Dave Houghton in the GamesRadar UK Podcast (opens in new tab).

Look out for our review of XCOM: Enemy Unknown very soon. The game is out on October 12 in the UK (Oct 9 in the US), so not long to wait now. It should be good. Definitely worth playing in a traffic jam.*
