The Walking Dead cast (potentially) reveals three characters Negan didnt murder

Right from the very first frame of The Walking Dead (opens in new tab)‘s season 7 trailer (opens in new tab) it’s more obvious than a baseball bat to the face (too soon?) that AMC plans to wring every single ounce of tension from the season 6 cliffhanger. Who Negan did or didn’t kill is a question that’s been steadily building momentum since the finale aired in April. Everyone and their grandmother has attempted to figure it out. Put those intricate shot deconstructions aside, because we’ve heard it from the man himself. Maybe.

At this year’s San Diego Comic Con (opens in new tab), filmmaker and part-time IMDB host Kevin Smith interviewed Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), where the topic of Negan’s kill came up. You can check out the full video here, or, if you wish to remain in the dark on the matter click away now.

“With the exception of Jeffrey, the rest of this panel is unkillable, right? Not a single one is ever leaving that show?” Smith asks, getting only silence from the actors. Understandable, they’re probably all legally-contracted to stay quiet on the matter. That doesn’t stop Lincoln from pushing his co-star. “Who did you kill, if indeed anyone?” he asks Morgan, who replies with a smile “No one sitting here”.

Taken at face value that means Rick, Daryl and Glenn are in the clear. But do we really expect a show that’s made a habit of trolling the hell out its audience to drop a spoiler like that? And four months in advance no less! Morgan’s probably taunting us with a massive misdirect. Typical Negan.

The Walking Dead season 7 will premiere on AMC on October 23, 2016 in the US, and a day later on FOX UK in the UK.
