David O. Russell talks Bradley Coopers American Hustle transformation

We focus on the hippest movies heading your way – including Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Don Jon , Anchorman 2 and Daniel Radcliffe’s devil flick Horns – taking a close look at David O. Russell’s American Hustle .

Inside the issue – which is available for just £1.99 on your iPad (opens in new tab) , we get the lowdown from O. Russell on what he’s calling his biggest ever movie.

You can read the full interview with The Fighter (opens in new tab) director inside the issue, but for now, here’s a cheeky extract from what O. Russell had to say about one of his leading players – and Silver Linings Playbook (opens in new tab) star – Bradley Cooper.

“You’ve got Cooper, look at fucking Cooper! He isn’t your usual federal agent, he’s from the outer boroughs and is every bit as much of a character as they are.”

“Cooper’s entering that phase where he can do transformative roles. You watch the rushes and you’re like, ‘Christ, who is that?!’ It’s really freaky. You look in his eyes and he looks like a different person.”

American Hustle opens in the UK on 20 December.
