Following his lusty coke fiend in This Is The End , Michael Cera continues his moral decline as Jamie, a boorish American determined to get off his head on mescaline in Sebastián Silva’s Chilean road trip.
The semi-improvised plot is thinner than Cera’s man-boy face-fluff, but Silva’s curio works best as a free-wheeling character piece, splicing oddball comedy with discreet depths.
Gaby Hoffmann is terrific as the titular free spirit, while Cera nails the neurosis lurking behind Jamie’s toxic-tourist front with deadpan precision.
No more Mr Nice Guy? Suits him.
