Crysis Remastered trailer officially welcomes you back to the jungle

The Crysis Remastered trailer finally made the whole thing official after weeks of teases.

Though the trailer only shows a scarce few seconds of game footage, that quick glimpse of Nomad ready for action in the jungle will be enough to get seasoned fans shouting their favorite Nanosuit quotes. The cheeky nod to folks around the world finally getting machines that can run the original Crysis just in time for this one to come out is pretty good too.

The trailer didn’t tease a Crysis Remastered release date, only that it’s “coming soon”. It did confirm that the game is headed to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you tried to tell me that a little handheld console was going to run the game that made my graphics card sound like a jet airliner back in 2007, I would not have believed you.

With rumours of a Crysis return, we need the machine-melting FPS now more than ever (opens in new tab)

“Crysis Remastered brings new graphic features, high-quality textures, and the CRYENGINE’s native hardware”, promised an early post on the official website (opens in new tab), which also teased “API-agnostic ray tracing solution for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and – for the very first time – Nintendo Switch.”

Crysis originally launched on PC in 2007, as a famously high-powered technical showcase that could then only run on the most advanced gaming PCs on the market. The fact that, 13 years later, a remastered version of the first-person shooter is able to operate on a portable Nintendo system, complete with ray-tracing tech, shows just how far the games industry has come in just over a decade.

Hopefully Crytek will show us a better look at how the game looks in action soon. Whether the release of this port means we can expect a Crysis 4 in the near future is anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t rule it out just yet. Stay tuned to GamesRadar for more info as it arrives.
