The concept art Robert Rodriguez showed off for Fire And Ice at Comic-Con has now appeared online.
The director has teamed with the estate of fantasy artist Frank Frazetta to produce a live-action take on Fire And Ice , which was already the subject of a 1983 animated film.
Rodriguez said he wants the film “to look like you just stepped into one of his paintings, where you get to see his world, and how he saw people, anatomy, and composition and colour.”
“It will feel like it’s real, but not real. It’ll be his reality. He saw things differently. He painted from his imagination. He didn’t take a photograph and just paint it,” he told Entertainment Weekly .
The official synopsis for the film lays out the plot: from his stronghold in Ice Peak, the evil Nekron sends forth a wave of deadly glaciers, forcing humanity to retreat to Fire Keep – a kingdom ruled by the generous king Jarol.
When the king’s daughter Teegra is kidnapped, the young warrior Larn joins with the mysterious and legendary Dark Wolf to rescue her and the realm from Nekron’s evil sorcery.
Production is expected to be begin in 2012.
