Earlier this month, the new trailer (opens in new tab) for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice came under fire for showing too much footage from the highly anticipated superhero film. In particular, the reveal of Doomsday was a plot point many would have preferred be kept under wraps, with one YouTube user even going as far as to ‘fix’ the trailer (opens in new tab). However, according to production designer Patrick Tatopoulos, we need not be worried.
Speaking with French magazine Premiere (opens in new tab), Tatopoulos stated that there’s still a few surprises in store for fans come March 25th: “We are able to tell a story in a fresh way. Doomsday is an evolution essentially. Fans may be aware of the death of Superman story, but this is handled in such a new way.”
In the interview, Tatopoulos also goes on to say that the “time frame of how things fall into place will surprise fans,” and that “Doomsday isn’t just the final act” of the film. Thankfully, he didn’t give any details as to who or what the ‘larger threat’ will be, but this is great news for fans who felt they had gotten a summarisation of the entire movie with the most recent trailer. Could this mean that Darkseid will be making an appearance after all? We’ll hopefully find out in four months.
