After several recent additions to its ensemble you’d be forgiven for thinking that Spider-Man: Homecoming (opens in new tab) was finally done with casting, but director Jon Watts has added even more talent to his call sheet. According to Deadline (opens in new tab) comedian Martha Kelly has signed up for a mystery role, while UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley announced that he was working on the Marvel movie earlier this week on The MMA Hour (opens in new tab).
This isn’t the first time Marvel have added a professional fighter to their cast; Georges St-Pierre starred as Batroc the Leaper in Captain America: The Winter Soldier – and took part in a tone-setting early fight scene – while Scott Adkins will be showing up in Doctor Strange (opens in new tab). We don’t know exactly how Woodley will fit into Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it’s safe to assume he’ll get into a scrap with Tom Holland’s webhead at some point. Furthermore, between Robert Downey Jr., Hannibal Buress, Donald Glover, and now Kelly, Watts has signed up some excellent comedic actors too.
Directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr, Donald Glover, and Zendaya, Spider-Man: Homecoming will swing into cinemas on July 7, 2017.
