Ryan Reynolds says Deadpool has been adapted with “slavish devotion”

Ryan Reynolds has given a brief update on the Deadpool adaptation, describing the script as having been created with “a slavish devotion”.

“I’m incredibly happy about it,” said Reynolds in an interview with Shortlist (opens in new tab). “We’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character.”

“That’s the most important aspect,” he continues. “It’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that’s the hope.”

With Reynolds previously having suggested the film will be aiming for an R-rating, we’re growing steadily more excited for this one. It’s been a long road, but hopefully the merc with the mouth is going to get the movie he deserves…

Directed by Tim Miller and co-starring Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano and T.J. Miller, Deadpool will open in the US and UK on 12 February 2016.
