First Star Wars spin-off will film at Pinewood studios

Cameras may just have finished rolling on Star Wars: The Force Awakens , but the galaxy far, far away will soon be returning to London, with the first spin-off film already booked in to film at Pinewood Studios.

As reported by THR (opens in new tab) , Pinewood CEO Ivan Dunleavy confirmed the news in an address at the annual CBI conference, revealing that the studio has a repeat customer in Disney…

“The seventh Star Wars movie just finished shooting at Pinewood,” said Dunleavy. “And I’m delighted to be able to tell you that a new Star Wars movie is already booked in.”

The new film will be directed by Gareth Edwards, although though no details have been confirmed as to what it will cover. Rumours abound that it will be a standalone story following one of Boba Fett, Yoda or Han Solo…

The first spin-off movie is currently pencilled in to open in both the UK and the US on 16 December 2016.
