Microsoft’s 40% smaller Xbox One S (opens in new tab) will downside in more ways than just its physical size – it’s also dropping the dedicated Kinect port found in its full-size sibling, according to a report from The Verge (opens in new tab).

The Kinect has had a tumultuous partnership with the Xbox One, first deigned an integral part of the machine, then shifted into an optional accessory, and now, pushed even further from the console itself. The good news, if you are a Kinect fan, is that the Kinect can still be used with the Xbox One S via a USB adapter that Microsoft tells Verge will be offered to current Xbox One owners who want to upgrade to the Xbox One S via a special program.
