Tom Hiddleston is not as sure about that James Bond announcement as we are

Now that Daniel Craig’s tenure as James Bond is over, talk has turned to who will become the next actor to portray the legendary British agent. Tom Hiddleston has emerged as Craig’s most likely successor (opens in new tab), but while at Wizard World Philadelphia (via ComicBook.com (opens in new tab)) the once and future Loki revealed that he’s not as sure as we are about that seemingly inevitable announcement:

“I’m sorry to disappoint you, everybody. I don’t think that announcement is coming. But I’m very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. There’s not much that I can say that I haven’t already said, but I know… Your guess is as good as mine to be honest”.

These comments don’t necessarily mean that Hiddleston hasn’t won the role. While producers haven’t traditionally gone for the most popular choice – Craig’s casting was initially controversial – there’s every chance the Marvel actor is just playing coy here. Even though I’d rather see someone like Dan Stevens (excellent in 2014’s The Guest, among others) tackle the role, I have no doubt that Hiddleston would make a fine 007. Either way, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get some sort of announcement relatively soon.
