Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum to star in another Ghostbusters film?

Sony looks set to expand its newly revamped Ghostbusters universe, with EW.com (opens in new tab) reporting that Channing Tatum is set to co-produce and star in a new film to arrive after Paul Feig’s series reboot. Chris Pratt has also been rumoured as another male star for this film.

The report claims that Sony already has plans in place to follow up Feig’s female-driven film with a new adventure, with the long-term goal being to combine the two casts of character for a team-up movie further down the track.

According to EW, Joe and Anthony Russo will direct the new film as part of their recently-signed first-look deal with the studio, with Ivan Reitman set to be involved in a production capacity.

The report goes on to reveal that the new project will fall under the remit of Ghostcorps, a new company established by Sony, Reitman and Dan Aykroyd to develop movies, TV and merchandising around the franchise.

“We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment,” said Reitman to Deadline (opens in new tab). “This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy.”

In the meantime, Feig’s film will open in the US on 22 July 2016, with a UK date tentatively pencilled in for 15 July 2016.
